Fly Tech™ Waders now sold entirely under the Stearns® brand name

St. Cloud, MN…When Stearns Inc. acquired Fly Tech several years ago, they embarked on a marketing trial. They continued to manufacture and market Fly Tech brand waders while simultaneously offering comparable gear under the Stearns name.

“It was interesting to see how things developed,” said Mary Snyder, Marketing Manager for Stearns. “Fly Tech waders were remarkably innovative, but brand awareness was relatively low and sales reflected that. However, simultaneously, the same innovative products under the Stearns name experienced strong sales thanks to product quality and name recognition.”

These findings led the St. Cloud, MN-based company to move the entire Fly Tech line into the Stearns family of products. In addition to the popular Four-Seasons™ Wader System with zip-in/out liners (formerly from Fly Tech), Stearns now offers a complete selection of waders -- from 2-way stretch breathable technology to rugged, cold-water neoprene models.

According to Snyder, “the trial required close communication with our dealers, consumer contact and a lot of patience, but the findings have definitely shown us what anglers want and who they trust to deliver innovation and dependability. We couldn’t be more excited about moving into 2004 with a wader line that has earned consumer respect.”
