NIKON UNVEILS TEAM REALTREE® IMAGE STABILIZING BINOCULAR

Press Release

If you’ve ever hunted in bone chilling cold or at the end of your endurance, you know how hard it can be to hold a conventional binocular steady to search for game. In answer to hunters’ requests for a rock-steady, razor sharp view under these demanding conditions, Nikon Inc. has announced the new Team REALTREE® hunting gear image stabilizing binocular, designed specifically to give hunters an ultra steady view, under any conditions.

Nikon’s new Team REALTREE® StabilEyes™ is a 12X32 roof prism binocular that eliminates the effect of common sources of vibration and utilizes REALTREE Hardwoods Green HD™ camouflage to provide unexcelled concealment in virtually any terrain or at any range. An excellent piece of hunting gear.

The heart of the new StabilEyes is a battery powered system of gimbaled servos that are actuated when the unit is powered up.

Unlike many other image stabilizing hunting gear products, the Nikon Team REALTREE® StabilEyes is optimized as a binocular. It is a roof prism design that incorporates precisely cut and polished lenses and prisms. All optical glass elements are treated with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds for true color rendition, superior detail resolution, and maximum light transmission. Additionally, prisms are phase correction coated for the utmost in sharpness and clarity, ideal for hunting in low light or bad weather conditions. A special “VR Pause” mode temporarily disables the image stabilizing system to allow panning with the binocular.

The new Team REALTREE® StabilEyes is a central focus design with an adjustable diopter. It has an exit pupil of 2.7mm, a 60 degree apparent angle of view, and a field of view of 261’ at 1,000 yards. Eye relief is 15mm, very long in consideration of its 12 power magnification, and it is fully waterproof, fogproof and shockproof.

Nikon’s new camo StabilEyes measures 7.0” x 5.6” x 3.1” and weighs 38.8 ounces without batteries making it a prime piece of hunting gear choice for the backpack, ATV, or horseback hunter. It is ergonomically designed with a hand strap and integral finger grooves to reduce user fatigue and aid in operation. It is powered by two AA batteries and has a battery power display that blinks when battery power is getting low.

The Team REALTREE® StabilEyes stabilized binoculars will be available in 2004 at quality sporting goods stores and authorized Nikon photo dealers and hunting gear retailers. Suggested retail price is $799.95.
