Fishing Gear - Humminbird® introduces the new PiranhaMax™ 30
Portable fishfinder designed for maximum versatility. It is the first fishfinder to
combine the mobility and value of a PiranhaMax™ portable unit with the innovative
technology of the SmartCast™ wireless sonar operation.
“Our customers have already been taking advantage of the versatility of our

said. “By making that unit compatible with SmartCast wireless technology, anglers
will now also be able to get a great view of fish, structure and bottom below their boat,
as well as anywhere (100 feet maximum distance with wireless technology) they cast
the Advanced Remote Sonar Sensor™.”
The PiranhaMax 30 Portable features a suction cup transducer mount that adheres to
most wood, fiberglass and aluminum hulls. It comes in a self-contained carrying case
with ergonomic handle, transducer cable wrap and non-skid bottom. The 3 7/8-inch
diagonal, high definition (160 vertical pixels x 132 horizontal pixels) screen delivers
clear, sharp images by utilizing 4 level grayscale technology. The display is backlit
especially for night fishing. Depth and temperature are displayed in large digital
numerals for easy reading.
The SmartCast wireless system on the PiranhaMax 30 Portable uses the new Advanced
Remote Sonar Sensor (RSS), which reads water surface temperature, illuminates at
night to provide location of the sensor on the water, has extended battery life to 500
hours of on-the-water usage, and has programmable A/B channel operation that allows
manual switching to avoid interference.
