The New Bushnell ® Nighthawk™ The Future Of Nightvision Is Here Hunting Gear - Bushnell
Bushnell- Overland Park, KS. — Bushnell®, the leader in outdoor technology, introduces the new
digital NightHawk™ Night Vision viewer and changes the way you see at night. The use of
cutting edge digital technology not only
reduces the size of the viewer, but also
enhances the quality and performance of the
NightHawk viewer.
In the past, Night Vision scopes used image
intensifiers and photocathode tubes to
convert light into electrons. The electrons were then accelerated and projected on a phosphor
screen for viewing. For optimum viewing, the user had to focus both the objective lens and
the rear viewing screen. Under really dark conditions, infrared illuminators were used to
enhance the viewing images.
Now, the new digital technology found in the NightHawk viewer eliminates the image
intensifiers and photocathode tubes. The result is a more compact product that relies on high
quality optics and electronics to provide crisp, high-resolution images. The key element in
the new digital technology is the Charged-Coupled Device (CCD), which gathers the light
and processes the image. The image is then displayed on a Thin Film Transistor (TFT)
viewing screen on the back of the unit. The TFT display lets the user see the image at 2x
optical magnification. Unlike the old technology, the new NightHawk viewer can be used in
daylight without damaging the device.
The new Bushnell digital NightHawk viewer is also easier to operate. Just press the “On/Off”
button, move the swivel lens to find the object on the LCD screen, and bring the image into
focus by adjusting the objective lens. When moonlight and starlight are insufficient, 14 built-in
infrared diodes let the user see in complete darkness. The diodes are adjustable for precise
illumination and require less battery power than before.
A five-way switch lets the user fine-tune the image with adjustments for brightness or infrared
illumination. It runs on a built-in rechargeable battery that provides two hours of viewing, but
it also has an AC/DC power port. Digital images can be captured on video and shared using the
video output port and cables that are included with each unit.
With an extended viewing range of 1-75 feet, the NightHawk is ideal for observing wildlife
after dark. It can also be used for camping, hiking, marine navigation or personal security.
The NightHawk view is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the hand and it weighs
just 12.4 ounces. Rubber armoring ensures a firm grip and makes it rugged enough to use
outdoors. For convenience, it comes with a carrying case, wrist strap, battery charger and
video output cables.
Suggested retail price for the NightHawk night vision viewer is $199.99. It’s available at
Bushnell dealers nationwide.
