Purchase: Archery Bows I purchased the new '04 XTEC as soon as the bow was released in November of '03. The bow was marked for $640, but I receive 25% discount on bows so I saved some $$$.
Things I like about the HOYT XTEC Archery Bows: I have owned many bows and look forward to each seasons exciting new models. With MANY great bows to choose from this season I shot many from several of the popular manufacturers and the XTEC won my vote. It is the most rock solid, stable shooting platform I've ever personally experienced. Truly an excellent balance between length, weight and speed, I found that the new XTEC instills a great amount of confidence in the shooters hand because of it's outstanding feel. Fit and finish is excellent and the Cam & 1/2 sywstem needs NO intoduction. Only 2 years old and this design has already changed the direction of cam design by nearly all of the bow manufacturers. A true 5 star bow in my opinion.
What I don't like about the HOYT XTEC: That's the outstanding thing about the new "X". Hoyt has clearly addressed and perfected their '03 line with their new '04s. By adding a shorter more paralell limb option and intoducing the new Triax limb pockets they have fine tuned an already excellent design. They even improved the grip pad slightly so that it won't peel after thousands of shots and many hours in the hand. The "performance marks" have also been improved on the Cam & 1/2 system. Instead of two lines on each, it is an even simpler 1 hole design. All you have to do is glance and each cam and if the string is anywhere over the hole you know you bow is at shooting at it's best. I see NO downsides to this awesome bow. I suppose IF I could do anything to the bow it would be to add a different string system such as Winners Choice.
Archery Bows XTEC quality: I feel I have addressed the outstanding quality found in this product in the above boxes already.
XTEC summary: The new '04 XTEC is truly an outstanding bow. It is designed with the serious bowhunter in mind. The most rock solid, stable, and deadly accurate shooting platform I've ever experienced. Hoyt has truly perfected hunting bow design with it's new XTEC and it will be very interesting to see what the company can do to follow up such and outstanding design.
