Purchase: Hunting Gear Misc. After reading review on the internet I decided the savage 111 in 30-06 would be a good back-up rifle as my Remington was in getting worked on and the prospects of it becoming a wall hanger were good. So off I went to a reputable gun store in Vancouver B.C. Canada and paid my $568.00 (plus taxes) and off I went.
Things I like about the savage arms 111 fcxp3 Hunting Gear Misc.: After I got home I unpacked the rifle cleaned it played with it ,it is light handles well and its a package deal so all the essentials are in the box gun,scope,sling.lock etc.
What I don't like about the savage arms 111 fcxp3: between the time I bought the savage 111 and the first trip to the range I got my old gun back from the gunsmith so I made a day of it thinking I would sight in the savage and test fire the old Remington. I can honestly say that I have never been more disappointed in a new gun the best I could do was 4to5 inch groups @ 100 yards the old (35yrs.)gun sighted in after 3 shots and shot 1 inch groups all day .
I have since changed the scope and mount that made no difference , more good money after bad . The Savage 111 package should be left in the store where they are . Absolute junk.
Hunting Gear Misc. 111 fcxp3 quality: by all appearances this should be a good product but it falls far short of that.
The stock is plastic and cheap and rubs the barrel,the action seams to be the only salvageable piece of this rifle as after a closer look I found what feels to be a small deformity in the barrel.
111 fcxp3 summary: Paid to much the rifle is a low end 50 yard gun at best. I really expected more from Savage even in a entry level firearm. perhaps I was unlucky and got a bad one, with the quality controls and modern machining this should never happen.
I will never buy another savage unless I can test fire it first.
