Shimano TX 4000 FD reel Fishing Reels
Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shimano Shimano Model: TX 4000 FD reel Review Category: Fishing Reels
Purchase: Fishing Reels I bought it on sale with Walmart, $35, because I needed a couple inexpensive reels.
Things I like about the Shimano TX 4000 FD reel Fishing Reels: I choose this model because of the strength of the drag, 20 pounds, so you can fish with superwires with no problems. Twenty pounds drag is enough to play a Chinook. I have practically tried it and indeed supports around #20.
The price is very convenient and it looks and feels good. Also has 2+1 stainless steel ball bearings. It is approved for saltwater use, provided the proper cleaning maintenance.
What I don't like about the Shimano TX 4000 FD reel: First you have to open it and grease it, because it is completely dry. This looks like a new fashion in reels, only the expensive ones come greased. Then, the plastic cover at the back is a little flimsy: I tightened one of the two screws that keeps it in place just a little to much and it broke the plastic leg; not a big deal anyway, the cover is more like an ornament, I had fix it with superglue.
Fishing Reels TX 4000 FD reel quality: The best think you can do is go on the Internet on the Shimano website, and get there all the features and details for this reel. Lots of features for the money. It looks it have been discontinued with this name, but they make a similar "named" one instead.
TX 4000 FD reel summary: Good reel, good return for money. In the category of inexpensive reels i think is a 4 out of 5, and I don't say 5 out of 5 because I only have had it for a short time. It is made of graphite, so do not force out a snagged hook on it; if you block the drag beyond max and pull a 30 pounds superline you can create play inside and ruin it. Better use a piece of wood, wrap a little line around it and pull it as much as you want.
