Purchase: Black Powder I purchased this Muzzle Loading Rifle for my Son about 2 weeks after I purchased myself a Thomson Omega. And I would have purchased both of us one of these if I had known about this rifle before I purchased the Omega! The Thomson Omega is a fine rifle but it cost me over $200 more than this CVA and is almost identical but has more on it. First, Both had camo synthetic stocks, and Stainless Steel barrels which I wanted in mine anyway. That's what I got. But the CVA Kodiak has the fluted barrel, (extra cost on the Omega), it has a cheek piece on both sides so it's good for either a right or left handed user, the Omega had NO cheek piece, it came with a cleaning jag on the end of the ramrod, the Omega came with none, it came with a sling and a decent one at that, the Omega came with none. We took them to the range to fire both of them for the very first time together and that CVA shot just as well as the Omega. In fact, we used the same bullets and powder. I only wish I had known about the CVA before I purchased the Omega! I would have gotten the fluted barrel, the cleaning jag, the double cheek piece, and the Sling and Saved my self $200! I really like that CVA.
Things I like about the CVA Kodiak Muzzle Loader Kodiak .50 Cal Black Powder: The weight, the accuracy, the price that includes all the things that the Omega didn't come with, the incredible recoil pad, the expandable ram rod and last of all, the great look of that gun.
What I don't like about the CVA Kodiak Muzzle Loader Kodiak .50 Cal: That I didn't get it before I spent twice as much on the Omega!
Black Powder Kodiak .50 Cal quality: The quality seems to be top notch in every way.
Kodiak .50 Cal summary: If your thinking of a new in-line muzzle loading rifle and are comparing price, Check this gun out. You won't be disappointed. Believe me, you can pay a LOT more for a lot less rifle! This one is worth every penny. For the price of this gun it is well worth checking out the one with the stainless steel barrel and the camo synthetic stock. This one will last a life time and it's always nice to have a gun that's nice looking to boot! This is it.
