NAP Thunderhead broadhead 100g Broadheads
Broadheads Manufacturer: NAP NAP Model: Thunderhead broadhead 100g Review Category: Broadheads
Purchase: Broadheads Purchased at Dick's Sporting Goods - $29.00 for 6 broadheads. I bought these broadheads as I wanted to switch from mechanical to fixed-blade hunting heads. I had concerns about slow opening and poor cutting by the mechanical broadheads I was using. Also, had concerns about the mechanical blades deflecting off of the deer's skin rather than penetrating when hitting the deer at an angle.
Things I like about the NAP Thunderhead broadhead 100g Broadheads: Penetration and cut radius are excellent. I have arrowed one white-tail with the Thunderheads so far and although it was not a good hit there was a large exit wound, strong blood trail, and the deer did not go far before expiring.
What I don't like about the NAP Thunderhead broadhead 100g: These broadheads do not fly like target points unless your bow is well tuned for broadheads. I am shooting 2" patterns dead center in the bulls eye with target points and closed mechanical blades at 20 yards. With the Thunderheads my arrows are all over the place, up to 12" from the bulls eye, and scattered from low left to low right.
Broadheads Thunderhead broadhead 100g quality: The Thunderhead is a very well-made, solid, extremely sharp broadhead.
Thunderhead broadhead 100g summary: You definitely need to tune your bow and practice with the Thunderheads before taking them hunting. I took it on faith that they would fly like target points, took the Thunderheads straight out hunting before trying them on a target, and was lucky to recover the deer I arrowed. Only later, when I tried the Thunderheads on the target range, did I discover that they are shooting extremely erratically - up to 12" off the aim point at 20 yards! Perhaps if I tune my bow they will shoot more like target points.
