moultrie game camera IR 40 Trail Cameras (m-s)

Trail Cameras (m-s) Manufacturer: moultrie game camera
moultrie game camera Model: IR 40
Review Category: Trail Cameras (m-s)

Purchase: Trail Cameras (m-s) I purchased two of these cameras from the Cabela's mail order catalog. I paid about $ 220.00 each for these cameras. The reason I chose these cameras, was because I couldn't afford two of the cuddy backs which were around $350.00 each at that time. I should have paid the extra money.

Things I like about the moultrie game camera IR 40 Trail Cameras (m-s): I didn't find much to like. Maybe the Cheap price, I guess you get what you pay for. Cuddebacks have come down in price now. I'd also check out the new small Bushnell. Oh yeah the strap that holds it to the tree works pretty good. The infrared idea is a good idea. It would be nice if they could get the timing right so that it would capture both pictures when set on two pictures consecutive. By the way, these are the second two cameras. I sent the first two back because of the white pictures and they told me that they new that the cameras were not working correctly, but they now had the problem solved. They sent me two new ones. They didn't work any better than the first two. I was told that it was my fault because I didn't have them aimed right because of how the sun was hitting the sensor. Did I mention that I am a professional Photographer?

What I don't like about the moultrie game camera IR 40: The unit is big and bulky. It takes six D cell batteries which makes it very heavy. It is not very easy to conceal. The dislikes are minor. The cameras are very slow to capture a photo. You have to have it aimed at a feeder if you expect to get pictures of anything except the woods. You better have it set to take two pictures, one right after the other or all you will get is a white screen. The photos taken at sun rise or sun set are always lousy. The middle of the day or after complete darkness are OK. The SD card is very hard to get out unless you have little tiny hands. You can do what I do Which is take one finger and flick it out onto the ground with your finger nail.

Trail Cameras (m-s) IR 40 quality: The cameras have a plastic case like all of the others. You have to open the case to set the camera. They will not take much rough handling, as the one my son in law bought came all apart and no longer works at all after a trip back from the woods riding inside of a back pack that was bouncing around in the basket on the front of his Bad Boy buggy You need to hold it in your lap. The rubber gaskets are hard to keep in their groove. Even when the gaskets stay in place, they will not keep rain out. I just retrieved both of mine after a week of rain.

IR 40 summary: The cameras still took photos, but now the lcd is all messed up and you can no longer read any thing on it making it unusable as you cannot set it up as you can't read anything. I tried to call the factory, but they must have removed the contact us page from their web site. If others are having as good luck with theirs as I have with mine and they are calling to complain, I'd probably remove my phone number as well. I can not recommend this camera to anyone. Spend a little more and get a good one!
