Purchase: Archery Equipment I purchased the sight from BassPro Shops for $79.99. I decided to buy the Toxonics because of positive reviews for pin brightness (without need for a light), metalopic pins that protect the fibers, and very rigid, all metal frame for a solid that connects to the bow.
Things I like about the Toxonics K953 Metalopic Bow Sight Archery Equipment: The pins on the K953 are extremely bright, even in very low light conditions. In fact, I used this feature as a guide for when to stop hunting in the evening (when the pins were no longer lighted). I also like the fiber protection that the metalopic pin design provides. The pins lock and stay in place. Bow vibration does not loosen the sight settings.
What I don't like about the Toxonics K953 Metalopic Bow Sight: The K953 is not a "tooless" design. A correct size hex-wrench is required make aiming adjustments to this sight. It also does not have "micro adjustability" for fine tuning the aiming point. These will definitely be features that will be included with my next sight purchase.
Archery Equipment K953 Metalopic Bow Sight quality: The Toxonics K953 is a very solid, well built sight. The wrapped fiber strands are well protected, both in way they are wrapped in plastic casing and by the metalopic pin design.
K953 Metalopic Bow Sight summary: The Toxonics K953 is a very solid, well build sight for hunting use. The fiber pins are well protected by the metalopic pin design feature. The fiber pins are very bright and work effectively in low light hunt conditions (cloudy days or evening hunts). The sight has a rigid fixed frame for a rock solid connection to the bow. Adjustments require a hex wrench. But, once adjustments are made and hex bolts are tightened in place, vibration will not loosen the sight. Pins can be easily adjusted for 20, 30, & 40 yard distances. The larger .029 diameter pins are great for shorter range shooting, but they do tend to block the target a bit a longer range (40+ yards). I would suggest a sight with smaller .019 pins for longer range 40+ yard shooting.
I would rate the Toxonics K953 as a good performer for most hunting situations. I would recommend the sight to those who may be considering it.
