Shimano 2000 R Fishing Reels
Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shimano Shimano Model: 2000 R Review Category: Fishing Reels
Purchase: Fishing Reels What I don't like about the Shimano 2000:
1. I do not like is the roller pickup on the bail. When the bail is closed and the line gets picked up, it gets hooked on edge of the roller that does not revolve. The line then gets caught under spool and gets all tangled up.
2. I did not get a spare spool with the reel. Extra spools are expensive. All companies should take heed.
3. Spool capacity is too large. I would prefer a large spool but being able to wind on only 100 yards of 4 lb mono or 125 yards of 6 lb micro fiber. All companies should take heed
4. When the reel is in "anti-reverse" I would like the "anti-reverse" to work only when the bail is closed. When the bail is open after a cast, it's quite awkward to close the bail just by cranking the handle. You have to give the handle a quick sharp twitst to close the bail. I end up closing the bail by pushing on it with my hand. I have had an Abu Garcia reel for ten years and never had a prblem.
I don't think I will buy any more Shimano reels because of the line getting caught up with the edge of the roller bearing. I doubt any of my comments will be seen by any of the manufacturers.
Things I like about the Shimano 2000 R Fishing Reels: The handle is nice and large and the reel is light weight.
What I don't like about the Shimano 2000 R: Reeling in the line it constantly gets caught under the spool.
Fishing Reels 2000 R quality: Fair
2000 R summary: I am not satisfied with this reel. and am considering shopping for a new reel. Shimano used to be a very good reel but that was 20years ago. I do not like is the roller pickup on the bail. When the bail is closed and the line gets picked up, it gets hooked on edge of the roller that does not revolve.
