Things I like about the Savage 10 Predator Hunter Rifle Model 10 Predator Hunter in Brush Camo .223 Hunting Gear Misc.: After going to the NRA show in St. Louis and talking to the Savage Rep I knew these guns were coming out soon. As soon as Cabelas got one in I bought it in .223, my favorite coyote round. I love the short mid-weight barrel and the brush camo finish. Now it even comes in snow camo I think. The best part though was the being able to set the down to 2 lbs without paying for a trigger job. All new rifles need trigger adjustment for best accuracy in my opinion.
What I don't like about the Savage 10 Predator Hunter Rifle Model 10 Predator Hunter in Brush Camo .223: It does not shoot light bullets well. This model is for the coyote hunter and has a 1:9 twist so it is not as accurate with 40 grain and lighter bullets shoots them about 2 MOA. That is still good enough to kill a coyote. However if you shoot 55 grain and up the groups are much better. It loves the heavy bullets and will group 60s to 75s less than 1 MOA. I have the trigger set on its lightest pull setting.
Hunting Gear Misc. Model 10 Predator Hunter in Brush Camo .223 quality: This is a very solid unit and slightly on the heavy side but no where near bench rifle weight. The camo finish is great. Once I get into my camo suit I disappear. The AccuTrigger makes it a real bargain by saving a trip to the gunsmith and/or the cost of a new trigger. It is very easy to adjust the pull weight yourself.
Model 10 Predator Hunter in Brush Camo .223 summary: I really like this rifle and would buy another one in Snow Camo if the budget allows. I already have a .22-250 so I would go for the new .243. I put a Leupold 3x9x40mm V-II on it and the combination works great for calling coyotes. Savage has really done a great job with this rifle. The AccuTrigger is great and once adjusted with the handy little tool included your groups get much better on the target. The quality and accuracy combined with the great camo finish over the entire rifle make it a coyote hunters perfect weapon.
