Shakespeare EX235A / Excursion Fishing Reels
Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shakespeare Shakespeare Model: EX235A / Excursion Review Category: Fishing Reels
Purchase: Fishing Reels This reel was purchased at Walmart for $25.
Things I like about the Shakespeare EX235A / Excursion Fishing Reels: The price of the reel along with its smoothness and the extra spool seemed to represent a good value.
What I don't like about the Shakespeare EX235A / Excursion: The reel put an inordinate amount of twist in the line the first time the spools where loaded using the reel to do it. Yes we tried flipping the bulk spool over. We even went so far as to strip the line off and have the spools loaded at the sporting goods store. A half a dozen casts in and the line was twisted and bird's nests were starting, 20 casts in the line was unusable. Tried the second spool and experienced the same thing.
Fishing Reels EX235A / Excursion quality: Construction seemed reasonably solid for the price.
EX235A / Excursion summary: The reel is extremely disappointing. This reel was something my son shoveled snow and saved for to buy and is the first reel he purchased himself. He is one disappointed boy and we now have over $15 worth of line on that we have gone through and are left with a spinning rod with an unusable reel.
I would not recommend this reel to anyone.
