Purchase: Tree Stands I puchase three Summit Deer Deck fixed position stands (steel version) at Academy Sports and Outdoors in January of 2008. They were on a after season sale for about $80.00 which equaled 25% off.
Things I like about the Summit Tree Stand Deer Deck - (steel) Tree Stands: The stand's platform and seat is large. The stand has adjustment which helps keep the platform level on trees less than perfectly straight. The two ratchet buckles are heavy duty.
What I don't like about the Summit Tree Stand Deer Deck - (steel): Even though the ratchet buckles are heavy duty, the straps are light and fexible making it difficult to take-up the strap without twisting and binding. The BIG problem with this stand is it is very noisey! The adjustment mechanism used to level the stand makes alot of noise when you stand up or sit down. This is caused by the change in tension on the cables which connect the adjustment mechanism to the deck. I have tried everything; but welding the adjustment mechanism in place so it cannot move and cause metal on metal contact. This movement creates a pop when you stand or sit! I contacted Summit Customer Service by email and got no help or suggestions. Buy an Ameristep or Gorrilla fixed postion stand I own some of each and they are much better.

Deer Deck - (steel) summary: Design is flawed. Impossible to bow hunt from because of the noise this stand makes when moving from sitting to standing. Don't buy this stand! Summit's Customer Service is non-existent. I contacted Summit Customer Service by email and got no help or suggestions. Buy an Ameristep or Gorrilla fixed postion stand. I own some of each and they are much better.
