summit bullet backpacker Tree Stands
Tree Stands Manufacturer: summit summit Model: bullet backpacker Review Category: Tree Stands
Purchase: Tree Stands After researching various manufactures web sites and outdoor catalogues I decided on the Summit backpacker as this stand looked to be comfortable to sit in and with the folding feature I would be able to pack it into out of the way places I wanted to hunt. I then watched E-Bay where I bid and won the auction for 2 stands. One of the stands for me and the other for my wife. I purchased both stands for around $200 including the shipping charges.
Things I like about the summit bullet backpacker Tree Stands: The features I like about the Backpacker stand are the comfort most of all. I am able to sit quietly in this stand for hours without my legs cramping or falling asleep. It is easy to take down and set up. Climbing a tree is quick and quiet. I am a large person at 6'6" and 250# and I am very comfortable in this stand. My wife is a smaller person at 5'4". This is her second year of hunting from a treestand. She feels very safe in her Backpacker stand.
What I don't like about the summit bullet backpacker: The only item I dislike about this stand is the weight. The stand weighs in at 21 pounds which does not sound like much until you try packing it up hills to a stand site. The straps supplied with the stand are not comfortable as they dig into your shoulders and are not padded enough. They are difficult to get your arms thru to put the stand on your back or take it off. I solved this issue by installing a used military surplus Mollie pack system. This system has padded shoulder straps plus a padded hip strap and padded back support. When it is time to take the pack off there is a snap that unhooks either shoulder stap allowing the tree stand to come off easily.
Tree Stands bullet backpacker quality: The stand is made from aluminum tubing and cross bars. All the welds are finished neatly. The powder coating holds up to use well. The seat and straps are made of quality materials. These stands also come with good instructions and a DVD showing how to use the product safely.
bullet backpacker summary: My wife and I are pleased with the performance of the Summit Bulletbackpacker climbing tree stand. We have packed them into elk wallows from as close as 400 yards to as far as a mile from the trail head. They are comfortable enough to sit for long periods of time and are quiet enough to allow for some movement when the animal comes in. I was surprized the learn that Summit was no longer making this model of stand as I am looking for another Bulletbackpacker for a gift for my son.
