Rocky Mountain Gator XP 100 Broadheads

Broadheads Manufacturer: Rocky Mountain
Rocky Mountain Model: Gator XP 100
Review Category: Broadheads

Purchase: Broadheads I have been shooting this broadhead for as long as they have been on the market. I have watched these broadheads go up and up and up in price, just like everything else. However I will not EVER! shoot another broadhead for anything. These broadheads are top notch and will remain my (go to) broadhead for as long as I bow hunt.

Things I like about the Rocky Mountain Gator XP 100 Broadheads: I have never observed a blood trail that was even remotely close to the trail left by these broadheads. (based off of good shot placement) The way these broadheads are designed make them failproof!! These broadheads fly like field points. I have shot elk, deer, wild hogs, coyotes ect with this broadhead and I have not 1 complaint. (good shoot placement is the key to any broad head) No "o" rings no minimum amount of pressure to "pop" open. These broadheads open on contact PERIOD! And the free floating blade system is superb. A fixed blade uses a lot of energy to crash through even a rib bone. (lots of energy lost before reaching the vitals)The Gator blades "free float" around bone then expand to its full 2 inch cutting diameter. Thus resulting in very little loss of kinetic energy insuring almost 100% pass through every time. With a blood trail that looks like a highway.

What I don't like about the Rocky Mountain Gator XP 100 : This is not a complaint. But I have had (1) instance where I did not get a pass through. 25 yards quarter away shot. Passed right behind front shoulder, through both lungs and center punched the shoulder bone on opposite side. Pass through or not this is a dead deer running. Found my arrow. The razor cutting tip on the broadhead completely snapped off! But it did not matter becuase the damage had allready been done! The buck ran about 90 yards kicked my arrow and fell over dead.

Broadheads Gator XP 100 quality: Quality and construction perfect. Please do not change anything. (I wish they still made the 80 grainers with the point tip! those were just as nice).

Gator XP 100 summary: The Rocky Mountain Gator XP 100 is by far the very best broadhead on the market. Give these a chance on your next hunt and I can Guarantee you will be happy with the results. In 2006 this broadhead helped me harvest the 2nd biggest buck ever taken in California with archery equipement. That should say something for their quality, reliability and construction. Out of 5 I give these broadheads a 10.
