Purchase: Trail Cameras (t-z) I bought five of these cameras from www.sportsmansguide.com for the buyers club price of $39.97 One was to resell new which I did for $70.00 at Christmas 2008.It paid for nearly two of my own.They were purchased to complete four hunting sites where a tree stand,deer feeder,and camera would be trained on the feeder to monitor each site.
Things I like about the WildView .3VGA Digital Camera STC-TGL1 Trail Cameras (t-z): What's great about this camera is that it will accept "Juice Brand" NiMH C size rechargable batteries found on ebay,seller winnersales.Also it will accept the American Hunter 6V solar charger found on ebay,seller laundrymatman.Or you can take a fresh set of charged batteries to the camera,your choice.Another great feature is that you can purchase two memory cards and a USB card reader all found on eBay.Doing this you can just leave the camera on the tree switching out the card with photos to the clean card.Then when you return to your computer just plug & play your game photos.The camera includes a USB cable for in home at the computer use as well.
What I don't like about the WildView .3VGA Digital Camera STC-TGL1: As in some other reviews of this camera you read that they didn't get the deer in the photos.Reason is you really must have the camera trained on something to hold the deer in view.Distance should be no more than 15'.I use my feeders and deer licks.A natural is a scrape.All in proximity to my stands.If you don't want to hunt over a feeder or lick just remove it after you get your photos.I really do wish this one had more flash range,or was infared but what do you expect for $40?
Trail Cameras (t-z) STC-TGL1 quality: The construction of the STC-TGL1 is just as good as the more expensive Extreme WildView line.It's water & weather proof with two latches holding the main access door.I have even used anything from a 64MB Lexar card,512MB SanDisk,& 2GB SanDisk in the cameras.The manual only rates it to 512MB but It'll do more...My photo quality even at pitch dark has been very good for the .3MP rating.Wish they'd let me post some photos for you in this review.
STC-TGL1 summary: My game photos are proof to me that the only reason I'd need a more expensive infared model is to train on my home for burglar protection.The flash will spook a burglar,but not a deer.The infareds do shoot farther and also include like 180 seconds of video in them as well.It's all in how fancy you want to see it.How much you want,or have to spend.Fact is WildViews STC-TGL1 is the best camera they make for the money to do the job!The beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
