Things I like about the Thompson Centre .50 caliber Omega rifle Black Powder: I just love the fibre optic sights, even though I did mount a 2.5 to 7 x scope. I took the new rifle, mountered the TC scope base, mounted the scope with Q.D. weaver rings, removed the breach plug, sand bagged ( solidly) the rifle at the bench and centered a 5 inch day glo red dot, posted at 200 meters, in the barrel, as I looked through it, Maintaing the the position of the rifle, I centred the vertical hair through the dot and set the horizontal in and near the bottom of the dot.I fired the rifle at 100 meters. 300 gr Saboted STML bullet 130 br. triple 7 and the first round went into a 4 " bull. Three more shots got the final touch. I have taken a doe ,off hand 100 meters and a nice 5 pont buck from 183 meteres ( rested) Both were cleanly taken. Awesome rifle.. awesome performance.

What I don't like about the Thompson Centre .50 caliber Omega rifle: Is a little tough to prime( with scope on) in cold weather.

Black Powder .50 caliber Omega rifle quality: Fit and finish are excellent. The hammer cocking seems to be noisy but The two jumpers I took never knew what was up, so it can't be taht loud. The unit is a good fit me,I am a smaller guy @ 5'7". Rifle is not heavy at all and balance is typical of most other heavy barreled rifles I've shot. It swings well. The black composite stock and dull matte stainless let me operate in close without detection. Trigger is crisp and light enough to make longer range precision possible.

.50 caliber Omega rifle summary: Hey.. What can I say about this firearm that can convince you I really like it. I am sitting on the edge of my chair anticipating next season's hunt, it's gonna be a long winter. The wallop of the hit on my buck, after 183 meters of bullet travel, will remain in my memory a long time. I didn't see the hit, too much smoke, but I kew I had tagged him with a serious hit. A light, quick handling, sweet shooting musket, with serious thump.. You gotta love it.
