Purchase: Bows I purchased the Bowtech 82nd for $780 in Ontario, Canada.
Things I like about the Bowtech 82nd Bows: I went to the shop last week to test fire the 82nd. The bow I was previously shooting was a high end solocam model from 2001. I had heard rumours that Bowtech bows were fast at the expense of accuracy and vibration. To my surprise, this was not the case. I could not believe how comfortable the wall felt; there was no question when you hit it and it was easy to maintain. The speed was obvious (55lbs, Redline 460's, 29" draw clocked at 312fps) but the accuracy shocked me. Since 2001 I have shot (at most) 1000 arrows. I've had this bow less than a week and I can hit a quarter at 20yds (better than I have ever shot). I normally don't write reviews but I am so shocked at the feel and the performance, I figured what the heck.
What I don't like about the Bowtech 82nd: The only one item that I'm not crazy about is the exterior finish on the riser and the limbs. The pattern isn't an issue but the texture seems like a neoprene or an anti-slip film. It doesn't bother me but I wonder if the finish will stand up to rugged terrain. Time will tell.
Bows 82nd quality: Not a scratch on it; perfectly machined components. Everything lines up as it should.
82nd summary: I have made the mistake in the past of purchasing a bow without actually test firing the unit. I highly reccomend anyone considering a hunting/3-D bow to try the 82nd at a professional shop; those that think speed requires the sacrifice of accuracy and vibration are in for a surprise!
