Purchase: Tree Stands Purchased new a the Sportsman's Spot in Gastonia, NC (now closed) for around $239
Things I like about the summitt viper Tree Stands: It was a light and confortable stand before it broke.
What I don't like about the summitt viper: We discovered the broken weld on the V-brace and the all but severed tubing before a serious accident happened.
Tree Stands viper quality: This product should be tested more thoroughly - it is subject to failure.
viper summary: The Summitt Viper stand was choosen because of it's light weight, stability on the tree, and seating comfort. Both I and my son purchased these stands. While on a recent hunting trip in the mountains of North Carolina, four of us hunting together were discussing treestands. I said that I although I liked several things about the stand, I was currently using another brand because I didn't like the way the Summitt packed together and that it hung so far down my back, it caught in my snake gaithers in warm weather. We looked at my son's stand (the Summitt, one of the guy's noticed that the tubing on the support arm was almost totally severed. Looking further, we found that the weldment on the V-brace on the back was broken. This was an accident waiting to happen!
