Garrity 3 LED Headlamp Hunting Gear Misc
Hunting Gear Misc Manufacturer: Garrity Garrity Model: 3 LED Headlamp Review Category: Hunting Gear Misc
Purchase: Hunting Gear Misc Available at Wal-Mart for $10. I had become a master at holiding a flashlight in my mouth or under my arm while tying a knot or untwisting line, but something always seemed to go wrong. I'd drop a hook or the flashlight would go out, but mainly I would need to use that other hand and not be able to. A fishing buddy gave me this for Christmas because he saw what I was going through.
Things I like about the Garrity 3 LED Headlamp Hunting Gear Misc: The LED lights are very bright. At night, you can see very clearly what you are doing . The light it gives out compared to the flashlights I was using was reason enough to get it, but the thing I really like about it is the fact that it allows me to fully use both my hands and arms. This is possibly my favorite acquisition of 2003, and that's saying a lot. Since LEDs draw so little energy compared to a conventional bulb, Garrity says that the batteries will last 4 times as long. The angle that the light shines can be adjuseted with a simple twist. The bright light is very visible, and one of the settings is "flash," which could be useful for safety in some situations. Last but not least the light isn't uncomfortable to wear, though you still might get laughed at if you forget you have it on and wear it into a restaurant.
What I don't like about the Garrity 3 LED Headlamp: The light is so bright, even in the lower setting, that I could see wanting an even lower setting for some situations. Garrity offers a slightly more expensive (about $13) model with 2 LEDs that has 3 brightness settings and 2 flash settings (slow/fast).
Hunting Gear Misc 3 LED Headlamp quality: Very good. Garrity provides a lifetime guarantee on this (excluding the batteries), and I don't see them paying up anytime soon. The already fairly tough LEDs have a plastic shield over them, and nothing else on it would break easily. Water resistant, I wouldn't worry about wearing it in the rain.
3 LED Headlamp summary: The $13 light claims 350 hours of continuous use possible without changing the batteries. No more fishy flashlights in your mouth, and many different uses (the first time I used it was to change my oil, and I was immediately hooked). Now you can stick your head in that pipe to see if the crazy racoon still lives there! Seriously though, it seems almost especially made for tying knots in the dark and only costs $10, what more can I say?
