Gorilla Wolverine Tree Stands

Tree Stands Manufacturer: Gorilla
Gorilla Model: Wolverine
Review Category: Tree Stands

Purchase: Tree Stands I started researching climbing tree stands to go deer and pig hunting this year. After being shell shocked at the hunting goods stores in my area I looked at of all places Walmart. Only $89 for a climbing tree stand? I was all but confused, it must be the most uncomfrotable thing out there; Right? Against my wife's better judgement I went ahead and purchased the stand and decided if I didn't like it I could always take it back.

Things I like about the Gorilla Wolverine Tree Stands: I was wrong about the comfort level. I went into the woods the next day to see just how comfy it would be and I found myself sitting 20 or so feet up in the tree for 5 hours just looking at birds and squirles with my binoculars. I was plesently surprised at how comfortable the net seating was. No hot spots on my back side, it felt like I was sitting in a hammock. It also came with a full body harness that I found once I got it adjusted I did not even notice I was wearing it. I had plenty of range of motion, making it easy to make shots on game that I might not beable to make in a hang on stand.

What I don't like about the Gorilla Wolverine: The only draw back to this stand I feel is the weight of the unit to the capible load it can handle. The stand is 25 pounds and the reccommended max load is 250 pounds. Other stands in this catagory can hold at least 300 pounds.

Tree Stands Wolverine quality: I compaired this stand to the same stand on Gorillas' website and found it is made exactally like the more expensive stands the company offers. The first time I used it, it did creak a bit. Once I read further into my manual, it is reccommended that you step on the stand while it is on the ground to sort of break it in. The second time I used it, no creaks or other noises for that matter. I weigh 190 pounds and this stand felt very sturdy while hung properly in a tree.

Wolverine summary: The bottom line is if your a money councious hunter that doesn't want to drop a weeks pay on a new stand then this is the stand for you. When I get new "toys" as my wife likes to call them, I like to customize my gear. This stand made it very easy to fabricate a shooting rail and from looking at the more expensive stands I even fabricated side pockets to put ropes and things in. I am very pleased with the construction, the user friendliness and comfort of this stand. Gorilla and Walmart have really kept hunting afordable for a young military member with three kids.
