Garmin eTrex Legend GPS
GPS Manufacturer: Garmin Garmin Model: eTrex Legend Review Category: GPS
Purchase: Iv'e been looking for one of these for quite some time, for marking trails, scrapes, and rubs during archery season, and just finding my way around the woods. So I purchased this unit because I new some one who had this unit and had checked into all the features of various brands and for the price, and name this is indeed a great unit.
I paid $200.00 for this unit is worth its weight in gold.
Things I like about the Garmin eTrex Legend: Its loaded with options like backlit display, WAAS capable, 8 megabytes for downloading topo info and street maps with optional Garmin software, you can set way points, save tracks you've traveled, and has sun and moon phases, not to mention it gives you mph and speed, and distance you are traveling if used in a car or boat. It has a compass, and a track back feature for getting back to your starting point.
What I don't like about the Garmin eTrex Legend: In the carrying case the screen can be a little hard to see in low light conditions, although the back light can be used but it cuts down on the battery life.
eTrex Legend quality: The overall construction is very solid, and it is waterproof, and supposedly floats, although I have not tested this. With optional case it will save the screen from getting scratched up.
eTrex Legend summary: If I had do purchase a gps at this present time, my decision would be the same the eTrex Legend. I'm sure every unit has some bad points, but I have'nt found a lot with this unit, and I've been using it for about six months.
