Purchase: Tree Stands Purchased direct from Equalizer after getting a mailer. I made the purchase because of the self leveling system that allows for the leveling of the stand as the tree is climbed, for it's light weight, and the feature that allows for facing the tree or facing away from the tree while hunting.
The stand cost $275.00 plus $15.00 shipping.
Things I like about the Equalizer self leveling system Tree Stands: The stand is light weight, easy to set up and take down, packs into a compact unit, and backpacks great. It climbs quietly, has a nice system for securing to the tree when reaching hunting height and I find it to be very comfortable. Plus the leveling system is a great concept that allows for adusting both the foot platform and the seat section as you climb no matter what the taper is on the tree.
What I don't like about the Equalizer self leveling system: The only thing I dislike about the stand and the reason I returned the stand for a refund is the plastic parts. The main part that holds the cable in place on the leveling system is made of plastic. This plastic cable carrier takes the full load of the person standing on the unit. I cannot imagine relying on a piece of plastic to hold my weight when I am 25 feet or more up in a tree. This part should be made of metal of some kind. Also the gears for the leveling system are made of plastic and started stripping the second time I put it on a tree.This stripping completly disabled the leveling adjuster. I returned the stand and hope to get a refund.
Tree Stands self leveling system quality: Other than the plastic cable carrier and the platic gears, the stand construction is fantastic. The stand is well designed, very well constructed, has some fantastic features all hunters will love including bowhunters. Quality is as good as it gets aside from the plastic parts.
self leveling system summary: This is probalby the best stand on the market when considering all the features a hunter would want. It has the potential to put other stand manufacturers out of business. But the plastic in my opinion is the thing that will hold it back. Plastic is just not the thing one wants to rely on to hold you up in a tree.
