G_Loomis GL3 Fishing Rods
Fishing Rods Manufacturer: G_Loomis G_Loomis Model: GL3 Review Category: Fishing Rods
Purchase: I have been salmon fishing for many years and had some different fly rods, weight, length and size, I have used, sage, fenwick and g-loomis. I did some research and price checking on fly rods and for the price, warranty and what the rod had to offer I thought it was a good deal. I paid $400.00 for the fly rod
Things I like about the G_Loomis GL3: THe rod is very light, its medium action rod with enough backbone, for large salmon to be able to play them quickly and horse them out of heavy rapids and hold them in the river. Yet it is sensitive enough to feel the fish and enjoy the battle. It has the componets you need in a rod, feel and responsiveness to fly large fish, but yet enjoy the smaller ones as well.
What I don't like about the G_Loomis GL3: The only down side I have with the rod, is that it being a medium action rod, you have to get use to casting it. You have to work the line your self and cast the rod. For a novice angler they may find this hard and feel that they are working to hard to get their line out. You have to get use to the rod.
GL3 quality: The rod is very durable and well built. I have landed 15lb atlantic salmon in rapids that would wash a car down river and with the rod I have been able to control the salmon and take charge of the fight. THe rod stands up very well, I have also almost had it bent in half and the rod has never broken, or weakened. The cork on the grip does not crumble or crack with use and the eyes are seated well and secure.
GL3 summary: If you are a serious fly fishermen or a weekend fishermen and you want to get your monies worth in a rod that will last you a life time and one that you are not afraid to use. This is your rod.
