Bushnell Digital Trailscout VGA 119600 Trail Cameras (a-f)
Trail Cameras (a-f) Manufacturer: Bushnell Bushnell Model: Digital Trailscout VGA 119600 Review Category: Trail Cameras (a-f)
Purchase: Trail Cameras (a-f) I just got into bow hunting and I found game cameras and interesting way to see what wildlife I had on my 85 acres wooded lot.
I bought this unit in a local shop (Quebec Canada) and paid $279 (CAD). I was looking at cheaper units (Moultrie) but could not find them in stock anywhere.
Things I like about the Bushnell Digital Trailscout VGA 119600 Trail Cameras (a-f): It's simple to use, easy to program. Stores pictures on a SD card as well as a text file registering the time & date of an event (motion trigger).
It takes decent pictures although a bit more resolution would be usefull to zoom in a picture.
Batteries (4D) can last over a month.
What I don't like about the Bushnell Digital Trailscout VGA 119600: The mouting bracket system is flimsy at best as is the supplied padlock. The hole for the padlock is not large enough for any larger padlock or anti-theft cable.
The case is not waterproof. It fills up with enough rain water to short the batteries.
Works on 4 D batteries. They are heavy and not secured very well. The trap door is hard to open and batteries often fall out of place when changing the SD card.
Trail Cameras (a-f) Digital Trailscout VGA 119600 quality: Case: The color blends in well it is made with strong plastic. I find the mounting kit and padlock flimsy.
Waterproofing is deficient.
Electronics appear reliable.
Pictures are decent but not much detail
Power supply needs work.
Digital Trailscout VGA 119600 summary: It is a decent camera but I would return it if I could for the reasons in dislikes.
I opted for using a Python cable to secure the camera around the tree but I had to enlarge the holes slightly in order to do that. Unfortunately it had not rained for a long time when I did enlarge the holes so I did not know it was not waterproof.
Drilling the holes larger voided the warranty...
