Garmin Geko GPS Release
Gekos are the smallest and lightest waterproof GPS units on the market—inexpensive, with sleek designs and simple operating systems. With its sturdy, dark-gray case, the Geko 301 packs an amazing amount of functions into its slim frame. It has all the features of the Geko 201, plus an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter. The compass provides bearing information while you're standing still, and the altimeter determines your precise altitude and provides a 12-hour pressure-trend tool for gauging changing weather conditions.
The Geko 301 also includes five interactive games that transform the great outdoors into a virtual board game, including the new Gekoids, which takes advantage of the electronic compass. You can also enjoy a good workout while chasing a virtual lizard in Geko Smak, match symbols in a grid version of Memory Race, navigate to reference points without crossing one's trail in Nibbons, and collect symbols along a path in Virtua Maze.
Compass Page
This screen shows the distance and direction to your destination while displaying actual speed and distance traveled beneath the graphic compass.
Upcoming-Turn Feature
A new feature to the compass page alerts the user of an upcomg turn. If you are within 15 seconds of a turn in your route, the compass arrow will bend to show you in which direction the next point is.
Map Page
See a breadcrumb trail of where you've been with waypoints that have been marked along the path.
Mark Waypoint Feature
Mark an area along your journey as a waypoint to easily track and find important locations. Game 4: Nibbons
Your mission is to gather numbers as they appear on the screen. As you collect larger and larger numbers, your tail will grow. Be careful—you don’t want to step on it!
PanTrack™ Page
Pan along your track and "go back in time" to select a location to 'Mark', or perform a 'TracBack®' or 'Direct Go To'. In the Geko 201 and 301, where saved tracks are supported, this feature lets users pick the beginning and ending point of the track log to be saved, instead of always starting from the current location back to a limited list of track points based on the time by which they were created.
