Teton Fly Reels-Tioga

Press Release

The Tioga was created to fill the need for a popular priced, quality reel. Like its older brother, the Teton, the Tioga is machined from a solid block of space age aluminum alloy.

It is anodized with a durable black finish to resist corrosion and abrasion, and utilizes the same patented drag system that has made the Teton a worldwide favorite.

The reel is engineered to take advantage of modern mass production technology enabling us to offer the Tioga at a popular price. With more than two years of heavy use on the water, the Tioga has proven to have the same rugged reliability as our Teton model.

Changing from right- to left-hand retrieve can be accomplished in seconds, as can changing option spare spools. The Tioga is suitable for use in both fresh and saltwater. In saltwater, it is always advisable to thoroughly rinse the reel in warm, fresh wter to prevent the buildup of salt deposits. An occasional drop of light oil applied to the spool bushing, and backing of the drag tension when not in use will also extend the life of your reels.

The Tioga is available in six sizes to accommodate all fishing situations. Extra and large arbor spools are also available as an option. Tioga Reels are available to Dealers in Black. The special anniversary edition is available to Consumers in Gunsmoke.

Unparalleled Polarized Technology Added to Serengeti® 555nmTM Lens

Press Release

Overland Park, KS – Serengeti, manufacturer of the most advanced sunglass lenses in the world, has combined the darkest lens in its portfolio, the Serengeti 555nm, with its superior polarization technology to create the ultimate gray/green lens. The Serengeti 555nm Polarized lens is available in the Argosy, Iliad, Epiros and the new Lucca.

“The Serengeti 555nm is a lens that optimizes vision at the center of the color spectrum at 555 nanometers providing clearer vision and a relaxing, cooling sensation for the wearer’s eyes,” said Paula Humo, Serengeti product manager. “Combining this technology with Serengeti’s superior polarization creates an even more remarkable sunglass.”

Serengeti polarization, also referred to as Strata, is achieved by placing the highly technical and efficient polarizing film between the Serengeti 555nm lens and an ultra-thin piece of UV 400 glass, so the film never wears off or wears out. The polarizing film allows optimum parallel light waves through the lens, while blocking glare-inducing perpendicular waves. The Strata 400 lens also blocks and filters 95% of blue light, a natural phenomenon occurring in fog, rain, snow and overcast conditions. The lens virtually eliminates blue blur and eyestrain. The unseen science behind Serengeti lenses is the most advanced in the history of eyewear. As with all Serengeti lenses, the 555nm polarized lens is engineered with photochromic properties and Spectral Control® filters. The photochromic technology activates the lens to constantly adjust to changing light conditions, seeking optimum transmission while the Spectral Control filters are selectively blocking and filtering light waves to improve contrast and reduce eye fatigue to create a remarkably crisp and clear view of the world. The newest frame style added to the Serengeti 555nm family is the Lucca. This six-base stylish frame comes in gunmetal with shiny black temples and has spring hinges to enhance design and fit. All frame styles featuring the Serengeti 555nm are available at a suggested retail price of $199.99 at sunglass specialty stores and other fine optical retailers. STEINER OPTICS LAUNCHES HIGH-END BINOCULARS FOR BIRDERS AND OUTDOOR EXPLORERS

Press Release

Building upon its reputation for bringing adventurers closer to nature, Steiner Optics has developed a line of high-performance binoculars specifically designed for birders and outdoor enthusiasts. Named after the small, swift and skilled hunting falcon that uses keen eyesight to track prey, the Steiner Peregrine is a compact, roof-prism binocular that offers excellent light transmission and exceptionally sharp optics.

Working closely with its championship birding team and experts at the American Birding Association, Steiner engineered the Peregrine to deliver exactly what serious birders and nature lovers want – a lightweight, comfortable binocular with a precision close-focus system that resists the elements and allows for uninterrupted, extended viewing.

“With input from a panel of birding experts, we worked with our optical engineers to create a binocular especially made for bird observation and all-purpose outdoor use,” said Sven Harms, vice president, sales and marketing for Pioneer Research, U.S. distributor for Steiner Optics. “The Peregrine has all the features that serious birders and nature observers demand.”

Since birds are often visible for only seconds, observing their true colors in bright contrast and clearly identifying the most subtle color difference is extremely important to birders, according

to Steiner’s studies conducted with amateur birders and ornithologists in the USA and in Europe. To help achieve a new level of brightness, Steiner equipped the Peregrines with a dielectric prism coating, through which over 40 layers of silicon and titanium are alternatively applied to the glass surface. This “Broad-Band Coating” (BBC) results in superior light reflection over a broader range of colors, compared to binoculars without the coating. The Peregrines are also phase corrected for sharpest possible, distortion-free images.

The Peregrine features a large, fast and very smooth center-focus wheel that focuses from 6 feet to infinity with just a touch of the finger tip, an important feature for quick bird identification. With the lightest weight in its class and soft, non-slip rubber armoring, the Peregrine is comfortable and stable to hold. The comfort level is further enhanced by soft, face-shaped eye cups that feel good and prevent side light from entering and disturbing the image.

Steiner-Germany is the world’s leading specialized binocular manufacturer, with a particular expertise in lens and prism manufacturing and lens coatings that are “tuned” to the observed target object. Steiner’s hunting binoculars favor the color of game at dusk and dawn, its marine binoculars reject blue haze and water reflections and its military binoculars reject enemy lasers and allow observation in near-darkness. The company’s new binoculars are adept at helping users quickly identify subtle true color differences of birds and other wildlife against the shade of dense foliage. Also, in the Steiner tradition, these new binoculars are waterproof and rugged and maintain their sharpness for many years.

Available in 8x42 and 10x42 models, the Peregrine is shockproof, fogproof and Mil.-spec waterproof, maintaining its peak performance at any temperature and under any conditions. Its rugged, UV- resistant rubber armoring is nearly impervious to dust, moisture and even rough handling.

The Peregrine’s dark-green, light-absorbing rubber body blends in with natural surroundings, providing an advantage when glassing for easily spooked species. And, with close-focus ranges as low as 5.5 feet, the Peregrine helps users detect color variations even in unexpected nearby encounters with birds.

Monster Mix Whitetail Mix

I paid $22.60 at Barnes Feed Store back in the spring. Over the last few years we've been getting a ton of what many call scrub bucks, in fact I think the biggest anyone pulled out of there last year was a six point with a 10 inch spread. Not my idea of big.

I've been spotting a couple of times now and have spotted a couple of decent bucks, but nothing I'd call a trophy. It might be all in my head, but the deer both doe and horned seem to look healthier than they have in the past.

The land is actually about an hour North of me and wasn't able to get up there all the time during the winter months. So take this with a grain of salt so after pouring out several bags at over $20.00 a pop I'm wondering where my investment is. I also wish they'd put something into it to keep the damn turkeys away. Now they are big this year and happier than ever after having a constant supply of deer mix.

I wish it would take hold sooner to keep the birds away from it. Why wouldn't they put something in here to keep the turkeys and other birds away. I really think they are eating the majority of this stuff before it has a chance to feed the deer.

It's early in the year and I haven't done a lot of pre-season work. The locals don't know of any big ones out there and their usually the first to know after the Amish of course. For the time being I'll give it a three on a scale of one to five. Thanks Barry

Kwik Draw Tackle Box

Fishing Tackle

We bought it out West in a sporting goods store I believe called Van's. Which I knew for sure, but I think I was in every store for 100 miles killing time while visiting my in laws.

Everything is right there and easy to get at. With this box you don't need to spend a lot of time fiddling when you should be fishing.

The box won't pack all your gear for you and the only way it's going be at your fingertips is if you've spent the time getting it ready the night before/

excellent, as we all know these things take some abuse over a good fishing season and to date it's not showing a lot of wear, which means I've jinxed it.

It's a nice box especially for tournaments when you want to stay in the water as much as possible.

Gunnison Float Tube

Fishing Tackle

I piecked it up for $99.99 at Dicks. I shopped for a while and just couldn't pass up the price.

This is quite a step up from my first generation tube that although patched held up for years. I guess the best thing is the fly patch right there where it's needed so I don't have to fumble with my vest.

So far so good no complaints yet.

It's really well made and even has a inflatable back rest for added support. This is like a Cadillac compared to the one I bought through Cabella's years back.

Even I knew these things had come as far as they had I would have bought a new one years ago.

Dehydrator 2400

Other

I bought this for my wife last Christmas. As with many gifts it was all the rage at first and quickly faded to the back of the closet. Total cost was about $80.00

The idea is neat and a few of the things we made it in were pretty good tasting.

It takes a long time to get whatever your drying ready to dry and then a long time for it to dry out. Neither of us got a deer last year so we went out and bought some steaks to try in it. The Jerky tasted good, but I couldn't help wondering what it would have tasted like if we had cooked the steaks.

It hard to say. We haven't used it enough to see if it will hold up. I would like to see the second tray come with the unit rather than having to purchase it separatly. As far as dehydrators go this is a small one.

Nice conversation piece for holiday gatherings. A lot of work and for that matter expense in getting stuff to dry out. Pineapple dried is very good while apples taste like bark, don't ask me how I know.

15 foot Swivel Seat Ladder Stand

Tree Stands

My camp pulled our money and put six of these guys up last week. We paid 99.00 each at Cabelas. Thankfully a friend of mine got us a deal on the freigh charges. With the six up early it will give the deer a chance to get used to seeing the ladder. One guy wants to put a couple of dummy hunters in the stand to get the deer used to seeing them also. I don't think I'll be going that far. These six plus our fixed stands will give us plenty of choices on our 99 acre site.

When buying six you have to like the price of $99 dollars. There were a couple out there cheaper, but I pushed everyone toward this because of the swivel seat. The moving seat will help with seeing the deer and most importantly for those of us with sore backs. I also like the fact rathcet straps came with them. Once that ratchet is tight you don't have to worry about them going anywhere when you're in them.

As with anything these days you'd better have it chained down or someone is going to take it. Most of the locals around our camp are good people. Unfortunately there are a few sleezebags around that I just don't trust. Here's a good time. Have someone weld in ID in three different spots on it. We did and hopefully that will deter punks from taking them.

With the ratchet and straps on she's solid. I doubt much is going to bend the squar tubing. If we paid a lot more I'm sure she would be stronger and maybe more comfortable but we have plenty of time to make them more comfortable if we like.

It's hard to beat the price and will save us a lot of time from building permanent stands that only last a year before you start wondering how solid they are. See if the guys in your camp want to do the same as we did.
