Product Information & Facts Ask any hunter how important good, effective camouflage is to the success of any hunt and the reply will be unanimous. Camouflage is absolutely essential! The only problem was, little thought had ever been given to one of the most important aspects of effective camouflage.

The eyes, may indeed be ‘The windows to the soul’, but for the hunter they present three other, major problems.

1. Man is a predator and like all predators our eyes are positioned in the front of the head as opposed to the side of the head placement of prey animals. This placement allows us to focus and gauge depth but also makes us an easily recognizable threat.

2. Man is the only animal, besides the moose, in the woods with whites in our eyes. Again, this is easily detected, making man an easily recognizable threat to prey game.

3. Although a hunter is capable of remaining still, the eyes are constantly moving. In fact, we move our eyes more than any other part of our body.

CAMOVISION™ Eye Wear solves these problems by expertly hiding the eyes behind a camouflaged lens. The wearer can see out, but nothing can see in. The result is total, complete, effective camouflage.

The criteria used by the editors for reels focused on operating smoothness, cast control accessibility and adjustments, workmanship and drag systems.

Along with its ‘Editor’s Choice’ honor, the Calcutta TE 50GT was also tabbed with an Outdoor Life ‘Best Buy’ recognition. The reason according to the article – “It’s a reel you can pass on to you grandkids.”

Expedition Star - new Luxeon Star LED Flashlight

Press Release

Trenton, N.J., July 29th, 2003 — Tektite continues to demonstrate its role as the leader in LED flashlight technology with the introduction of its latest flashlight… the Expedition™ Star. The Expedition Star is the first flashlight to incorporate the new Luxeon™ Star LED and specialized narrow beam optics.

"The Luxeon Star represents the greatest breakthrough in LED flashlight technology since we introduced the multi-LED flashlight in 1998," said Scott Mele, Tektite president and noted flashlight expert. "With this advancement there's no reason to purchase traditional incandescent flashlights because the key features of incandescent lights—such as high luminous intensity and prefocused lamps—can now be found in a LED flashlight."

"Focusing on value, the Expedition Star offers the lowest cost of ownership when you factor in the 92.6% reduction in operating costs compared to traditional flashlights," said Richard Saint Cyr, Tektite vice president. "You can quickly see the value of the Expedition Star when you consider that average professional users spend upwards of $277 per year to keep their incandescent lights running."

In addition to being at the leading edge of technology and value, the Expedition Star has many standard features that make it one of the most rugged flashlights in the world.

- 1,000 Feet Depth Rating: double O-ring seals make this light watertight - Durable: constructed from ABS and Lexan®—the same material used to make bulletproof glass

- Reliable: 10,000+ hour lamp life and 65+ hours of battery life

- Vibration & Shock Resistant: LEDs have no filaments to break

- Shockproof: ABS body engineered for demanding environments

Another Bright Idea from Mossberg®

Press Release

FIBER OPTIC SIGHT - Mossberg includes Fiber Optic Sighting System for many of their barrels. The Fiber Optic Sights are available on selected 20 and 12 gauge Model 500®'s and 835®'s as well as selected Accessory barrels, including the .50 caliber model 500®, 6-shot, 12 gauge muzzleloader barrel.

Within the sight assemblies, an extremely thin, colored fiber gathers, concentrates and projects available light to an exposed, fiber-end. When the front sight's bright green fiber aligns with the two "red" fiber-ends of the rear sight, the result is an incredibly fast, on-line, target acquisition.

The "Vent rib" style Fiber Optic sights are adjustable and the rear "rifle-sight" style Fiber Optic Sight is mounted to a rugged sight base that also offers precise windage and elevation adjustments. Whether hunting in bright daylight or low light conditions, the Mossberg Fiber Optic Sights provide the shooter with a comfortable balance of brilliance and clarity, for a brighter hunting future.

Hunters can keep their eyes concentrated on the target. A shotgun with Fiber Optic Sights can be raised into the firing position and obtain target acquisition in one smooth movement. It greatly reduces the need to re-focus near and far, trying to find the sights then the target again.

Archery Equipment

My Step-Dad bought this for my confirmation for me. I had an old Bear Whitetail bow that was old. Both of his bows are PSE and it's what I wanted. I wanted him to give me his old one. I couldn't pull it back because it's 70lbs.

My Step-Dad says I will be able to use it two to three years since the draw is adjustable and so is the weight. It's really light and not very big either.

I wish the weight went a lot higher so when I get stronger I could make the weight go higher.

It's really well made. The handle fits into my hand really good. It's light so I won't have a problem carrying it. My friends Dad said I'll never have a problem with it. It makes my arms sore sometimes.

It's a really nice bow. I should be able to shoot a lot of big bucks with it. I can hit in a pie plate almost every time I shoot it. Really good bow. Definitely the nicest anyone has at school.

Vari X

Optics

This scope came with my new Savage I bought a few months ago used at the Hunt Shack. I don't no what the actual price of the scope was although it appeared in good condition or new condition at the time.

I'm not to thrilled with this scope. I wonder if something happened to it and that's why someone sold the gun rather than go through mounting another scope and buying mounts and the like. The cross hairs are the type I like and feel most accurate shooting.

It's hard to describe it. The scope doesn't give a clear picture. It's almost as if it isn't letting enough light in or there's a little fog covering the lens. I can't figure it out, the only thing I know is the sight picture isn't clear. Who knows maybe the last guy dropped it off a cliff or something.

There's something wrong with it that's all I know.

I don't know what to do with the scope. The Hunt Shack says it's not their fault and I should call the manufacturer. Everyone tells me since I bought it used I don't have leg to stand on. The worst part is I wouldn't have paid so much for the gun if I knew it was a bad scope. I bought it in March and just set the gun aside for a while with hunting season wound up for the year. Big Mistake.

Bandit Crankbait

Footlose Series

Hard Bait

$3.99 each in February on the net, I think either Bass Pro or ESPN Bassmaster stores.

What I like is this is either a great bait or I'm real lucky when using them. They produce for me and I have friends who have luck with them also.

As long as they keep coming in I'll keep throwing them out.

Their taking a little bit of a beating, probably because I've had such luck with them I'm using them constantly, the only thing that changes is the color and size.

Hey if you can't tell what I think about these babies then I ain't telling. For me it doesn't get any better than these.

Medium Supercast Reel

Fishing Reels

I scooped this unit up off The Sierra Trading Post.com. It was on sale for $99.96 which I think is a good bargain.

Very smooth!

I'd like it to cast a little further. I'm never satisfied with my casts probably because I try to keep the weight to a minimum to make the presentation very life like.

A fine piece of machinery.

I haven't had it long enough to finalize my comments. I however don't see how someone can go wrong with such a nice setup.

Ol'Man

Multi-Vision Titanium Air Elite

Tree Stands

I was cruising the web for tree stands last year when I happened across the Ol'man website. They have a really great story on there about how their tree stands came in to being and about why which reminded me of myself. You see the guy who had a Father who was old and didn't know it. He says in the story was one of the reasons he created the Ol'Man was he was sick and tired of rescuing his Father from tree stands. The moment I read that I knew this was the one for me.

My Father insists on using a climbing stand no matter how many times I offer to build him one, or even buy him a ladder stand. He also insists on bringing it in each night even though we will be back out on stand before the sun comes out. The reason the Titanium was my choice is it's lighter and stronger than steel and is easier to haul back and forth to camp. All of their stands come with a safety harness which is good since he's been using the one he has since I was in middle school.

The only thing he would change is the size of the foot platform. He's not as coordinated as he once was and I'm always worried about him slipping.

I don't worry about the construction of it. It's very well made and I doubt anyone would put a bad stand on the market with all of the liability settlements out there.

It was a lot of money for me to spend at a bad time. I know Dad would have done it for me and I thank him to this day for introducing me to hunting and fishing. I also know the two of us can't have a lot of hunting days left together and want to try to make his time out there as enjoyable as possible. If you're in Pennsylvania and see some old guy way to high in a tree, say hello to Dad.
