Simmons Reinvents The Riflescope Innovations in Master Series Scopes Showcase

Hunting Gear - Simmons Scopes

Hunting Gear -Simmons Outdoor Corp. introduces a series of scopes for 2005 that so dramatically redefines riflescope engineering that they obsolete all other riflescopes built today. Designed and developed by the best American engineers, Simmons' new Master Series™ riflescopes are manufactured in an American-owned and American-managed factory dedicated to building scopes exclusively for Simmons.

Drawing from the expertise and resources of its parent company, Meade Instruments, Simmons' optical engineers and designers in America took on the challenge to reinvent the riflescope and develop the most reliable scope on the market today. Master Series technology will be applied to several families of Simmons scopes, including the AETEC®, ProHunter®, and ProSport® riflescopes, and ProDiamond® shotgun scopes.

Simmons' TrueZero Adjustment System The patented design of the internal erector tube is the secret to the internal construction of this dramatic new scope and the first part of Simmons' TrueZero Adjustment System. The traditional gimbal/biasing spring design has been replaced by an erector tube that is solidly attached to the scope body.

Recoil has always been one of the largest contributors to a shifting point of impact with riflescopes. This technologically-advanced design greatly reduces the effects of recoil by absorbing and dissipating a portion of the recoil energy. For the shooter, this means the effects of recoil is dramatically reduced, if not completely eliminated.

Also, because this dissipation of recoil reduces stress within the scope, and since this design eliminates 30% of the parts traditionally used in erector tube construction, there is a greatly decreased probability of system failure anywhere within the scope. Fewer parts means less chance of anything going wrong!

The biasing spring which forces the end of the erector tube against the dial pads is another contributor to a loss of zero in traditional scope designs. The spring often weakens over time, becomes less responsive, and causes the point of aim to shift. Secondly, "drag" is created where the erector contacts the spring, keeping the erector from returning to the same point after each shot and causing a shift in the point of aim. When the point of aim shifts, so does the point of impact.

But the unique design of this revolutionary new erector eliminates the need for a biasing spring altogether. The responses to windage and elevation adjustments are immediate and precise. No more tapping on the turret to be sure the adjustment "sets"! The point of aim is precise at all magnifications and adjustment settings, delivering unparalleled accuracy and absolute hold on zero from season to season.

Removal of the biasing spring also results in an added benefit: It creates additional room within the scope body that allows a significant increase in windage and elevation adjustment range, up to 17% greater than competitors' scopes.

TrueZero Dials

Precise and repeatable windage and elevation adjustments are absolutely critical to shot placement. Simmons has addressed this requirement with the second part of the Master Series' TrueZero Adjustment System, completely redesigned windage and elevation dials. The new dials on Master Series scopes employ a ball bearing and spring system that significantly reduces wear while maintaining dial reliability and accuracy over time. Their firm and audible clicks eliminate any deviation in click value throughout the full adjustment range, giving the shooter confidence that any adjustments are accurate and repeatable. Also, TrueZero dials are completely sealed against water intrusion, even with the windage and elevation caps off.

QTA Quick Target Acquisition, Fast-Focus Eyepiece

Today's heavier bullets and loads require a longer eye relief - the distance between the shooter's eye and the scope's ocular lens. Simmons engineers have completely redesigned the Master Series eyepiece to deliver the safest and most comfortable shooting experience possible. The new QTA™ eyepiece provides a constant eye relief of 3.75 to 4 inches, depending on the model. And while eye relief typically shrinks as power goes up, the new design keeps eye relief constant throughout the entire power range, eliminating the need to close in on the scope as the magnification is increased. In fact, once the shooter finds the proper cheek weld, that position can be maintained throughout the entire power range. It's a safer, more comfortable way to shoot, and it can be critical in many fast-paced hunts where a split second can make a big difference.

Another design feature of the new Simmons eyepiece is a larger eyebox, which not only allows the shooter's eye to be a safe and comfortable distance from the eyepiece, but also eliminates critical head alignment that can make target acquisition difficult in many hunting situations. The larger eyebox tolerates increased up-and-down and side-to-side movement while still maintaining a clear view of the target, resulting in quicker target acquisition.

True, One-Piece Main Tube

Produced as a single unit, encompassing everything from end to end, Simmons Master Series scopes feature the industry's first and only true one-piece scope tube. In creating this unique one-piece tube, Simmons' design engineers have also addressed the important issue of weight. Not only does a 30% reduction in parts improve reliability, it also reduces the scope's weight. Simmons Master Series scopes are the lightest, most rugged scopes available today, weighing an average of 22% less than competitive products, while maintaining overall tube ruggedness and durability.

Side-Focus Parallax Adjustments Simmons AETEC and ProHunter Master Series scopes feature newly-designed side-focus parallax adjustments. By changing the location of the adjustment from the objective bell to the saddle area, parallax and fine focus adjustments can be made while maintaining your target in the full field of view. This is a feature previously available only at higher prices, usually in models with 30mm tubes. The Master Series' new erector design and tube construction allows Simmons to offer it in a 1-inch tube, eliminating the need to reconfigure the rifle's existing mounting system.

HydroShield™ Lens Coating

A special hydrophobic coating is applied to the external surfaces of all lenses of Master Series scopes to disperse water and condensation into microscopic particles. This ensures clear vision in all weather conditions, with no fogging of lenses or "spotting" by rain.

SureGrip ™ Surfaces

Simmons' 2005 Master Series scopes also feature SureGrip™ rubber surfaces on selected windage and elevation caps, power change rings, eyepiece diopter adjustments, and side-focus knobs. Mechanical adjustments can be made to the scope under any type of weather conditions - even with heavy gloves.

Unprecedented 48-Hour Master Series Warranty Service

Simmons is so confident that Master Series scopes are rugged and reliable that it offers an unprecedented warranty: If any Master Series scope is found to be defective, Simmons will repair or replace it free for the life of the original owner, and they will ship the repaired or replaced scope back to the owner within 48 hours of receipt at the repair facility.

Meade Optical Engineers Build Superior Performance into Simmons Optics All Simmons Master Series riflescopes feature high-quality optical glass.
